About Stewart Animal Clinic

Stewart Animal Clinic

Stewart Animal Clinic is a full-service veterinary hospital in Warrior, AL. The veterinarians and staff at Stewart Animal Clinic believe preventative care helps your pet live a longer and happier life so we provide early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages. Your pet is cared for and loved by us at every stage of its life.

Beyond cats and dogs, we welcome pocket pets, ferrets and other small mammals as well as horses and goats as patients. Stewart Animal Clinic was founded in 1979 and serves the tri-county area of North Jefferson, West Blount and South Cullman counties for veterinary care, pet surgery, pet boarding & pet grooming.

We provide quality, individualized vet care for all stages of your pet’s life. Traveling out of Warrior? Stewart Animal Clinic's boarding facility can care for your pets when you travel out and need a safe and loving place for them to stay. Treat your pet to our spa grooming services for baths, nail trims and haircuts.

Dr. Stephen L. Stewart

Dr. Stephen L. Stewart

Veterinarian

Dr. Stephen Stewart grew up on a dairy farm in Blount County near Altoona, Alabama and married his wife Karen Moody in 1971. He graduated with honors from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1977. After graduation, he worked at Blount Animal Clinic then in 1979, he founded and opened Stewart Animal Clinic in Warrior, Alabama.

During the thirty plus years he has lived in the Warrior community he has made many friends resulting in lifelong relationships. This area has helped him in the support of his family and to see his three children grow to adulthood with families of their own.

Steve and Karen are members of Crossroads Baptist Church on Highway 160 in Hayden, Alabama, where he serves as deacon and Sunday school teacher. Dr. Stewart is a member of several professional associations such as the American Veterinary Medical Association, Jefferson County Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Equine Practitioners. He also belongs to several equine clubs and associations, which include the American Quarter Horse Association, the Appaloosa Horse Club, and several regional, state and local affiliates.

Dr.Emily A. Tucker

Dr. Emily Tucker was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. She spent most of her childhood riding horses and showing paint horses both English and western pleasure. During high school, she worked with a German Shepherd rescue rehabilitating dogs with behavioral problems.

Dr. Tucker came to Alabama when she started her undergraduate career at Auburn University, she earned her bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences there. During undergrad, Dr. Tucker met her husband, Matt Tucker. They got married two weeks before she started vet school at Auburn. During her first year of vet school, Dr. Tucker and her husband started raising Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats. They began showing them, and now have a successful and growing small farm.

Dr. Tucker graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2017. Their farm includes her childhood pony Susie, their miniature donkey Henry, 13 dairy goats, their guardian dog and 4 pet dogs (Mia, Sam, Lena, and JoJo), their barn kitties (Kitty, Flynn, and Trooper), their mini pig Libby, and several chickens. They are new to the Warrior area, but have enjoyed it so far. Dr. Tucker and her husband are looking forward to getting to know the area and the people and pets of Stewart Animal Clinic.

Dr. Bryan Murdock

Dr. Bryan Murdock

Veterinarian​​​​​​​

Dr. Bryan Murdock is a recent graduate of Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. He is originally from Murray, Kentucky where he grew up on a tobacco and cattle farm outside of the city. Dr. Murdock attended his hometown university for undergraduate, Murray State University. While working on his degree he landed his first job at a mixed animal practice at the age of 19. After receiving his degree in Biology, he continued to take masters classes in Cellular Biology before being accepted into veterinary school.

Dr. Murdock has lived and worked in Memphis, Tennessee, as well as Asheville, North Carolina, at a small animal hospital while also spending time working at the Memphis Zoo. Outside of the office, Dr. Murdock enjoys spending time doing outdoor activities including golf, mountain sports, and spending time on the water with his fiancé, Alexa. Together they have a Border Collie mix named Miss Mary, a cat named Kida, and two sugar gliders named Jewel and Jasmine.

Dr. Melody Sharp

Veterinarian

Dr. Melody Sharp is a 2019 graduate from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She was born and raised in Cullman, where she started volunteering and working at a local veterinary clinic at a very young age. She earned her bachelor's degree in Animal and Dairy Sciences at Mississippi State University, where she developed a passion for large animals in addition to her love for small animals.

Upon graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Sharp moved back to Cullman with her husband and high school sweetheart, Brent, two dogs, Sophie (Shih Tzu) and Walker (Aussie mix), and two cats, Nala and Kibby. In her free time, Dr. Sharp enjoys spending time with family, working on her family's farm, cooking, all types of art, kayaking, and most any other type of outdoor activity.

Cathy Knowles

Pet Groomer

Cathy Knowles has been grooming since 2000 when she opened her own grooming salon, Paws-n-whiskers in Pleasant Grove. She closed her grooming salon after the April 2011 tornados destroyed the area and joined the team at Four Paws Pet Grooming in Gardendale before coming to Stewart Animal Clinic.

At home, Cathy has a Standard poodle, mini horse, and a cat.

She strives to make the grooming experience as stress-free as possible for the pets and pet owners. She believes it is a must to have a great deal of patience and trust, as well as the ability to read a dog's body language. She takes great pride in her grooming work. Cathy is a believer that there is always something new to learn in the grooming industry and strives to learn new ways to keep your pets happy and healthy.
